Becoming a Christian

It's as easy as ABC

ADMIT that you're a sinner in need of a savior.

Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes that keep us from knowing God personally. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Our actions have earned us separation from God, but God has a plan for us to come back to him. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

BELIEVE that Jesus died on the cross for you to pay for your sins and He is the only way to heaven. Jesus Christ paid the price of our sin so we wouldn't have to. "But God demonstrated his own love for us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

CHOOSE to accept His free gift of forgiveness, by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. You must pray to receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord. "That if you confess with your mouth. 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10

Salvation is for everyone. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

Baptism

Water baptism is an external symbol of the internal washing and renewal that takes place when a person trusts in Jesus Christ. Baptism is symbolic of a person's union with Jesus Christ, a public profession of our new life in Christ, and an outer sign of our obedience to Him.

The Bible indicates that baptism is an important part of our commitment to Jesus Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, but have not yet been baptized, please contact the church and we will schedule a time for your baptism.

We Believe

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is Head of the Church. He is God revealed in the flesh – born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death, resurrected bodily from the grave, ascended to heaven and will personally return to claim His church and set up His earthly kingdom.

WE BELIEVE that the person of the Holy Spirit is the presence of God on earth today. The Spirit’s activities today include convincing individuals of their need for Christ, imparting eternal life, indwelling and baptizing each believer at the point of salvation into the body of Christ, sealing each believer until Christ returns, illuminating the written Word of God to each believer, and enabling the believer to live the Christian life.

WE BELIEVE that the Bible is God’s verbal, complete and infallible revelation to man.

WE BELIEVE that personal faith in Jesus Christ is the only condition for man’s salvation.

WE BELIEVE in the commandment of Jesus Christ to love one another and to serve one another. Jesus Christ established the local church as a gathering of his people for mutual support, love and service.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is continually working with each believer, sharpening his or her gifts and skills, to be effective ministers in the kingdom of God.

WE BELIEVE in the great commission given by Jesus Christ to make disciples. It is incumbent upon the church to reach out with God’s healing message (the Gospel) to the world.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus established a principle of ministry to the non-believer, which was characterized by understanding, compassion, healing and love. The church is responsible to follow this principle.

Communion

Communion symbolizes God's continuing work in your life. Communion has two elements: the bread and the wine. The bread symbolizes the body of Christ sacrificed for our sins. The wine symbolizes Christ's blood He shed for our sins. We celebrate communion as a memorial of what Christ did for us.

Luke 22:19-20 (NIV) “And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.’”
