Dave was born and raised in Southern California. Having lived and
served in ministry in the city, country, mountains, beach, and the desert, he
has a developed varied background in experience and culture. He and his wife,
Cathy, have three grown children; Heather who is married to Jesse Buchholz, Amy
married to Spencer Basner, and Emily a student and cheerleader at Boise State
University.
Dave and his family recently moved to Eagle, ID, from Las Vegas,
Nevada, where he planted a seeker-sensitive church. Prior to starting the church
in Las Vegas, Dave took a five-year-old church, in a small town in Southeast
Wisconsin, from 175 to 300 in less than one year using a seeker-sensitive style
of ministry.
Dave attended college on a football scholarship, a four-year
varsity letterman. While at college, he established a Fellowship of Christian
Athlete’s program and served as the first president of that organization at CLCU.
He played in the 1977 N.A.I.A. National Championship football game in Southern
California. After his graduation Dave was offered an invitation to walk on with
the Dallas Cowboys as an offensive lineman, however, as thrilling as that was,
he felt the call to ministry and chose to follow God into full time ministry
instead.
Dave has been involved in ministry since 1973 both part-time and
full-time. He has been involved in, and was a founding member of The National
Network of Youth Ministries. He served in nearly every facet of ministry
including, Jr. High, Sr. High and College youth ministries, Director of Student
Ministries, Small Groups, Staff Training, Leadership Training, Evangelism,
Discipleship, Sunday School, Children's Ministries, Adult & Children's Sports
Programs, Bible Studies, Campus Ministries, Camps and Retreats, Mission Trips,
Choir Tours, and Social Activities.
As a popular speaker, Dave has spoken at churches, camps,
retreats, Division I football team chapels, public & private schools, training
seminars, and in local correctional institutions.
Dave has a strong
passion to reach out and share the good news of Jesus. His mission is to reach
non-churched people and lead them into a life changing relationship with Jesus.
